Dear OC
As the school year draws to a close, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank a few people and point out some events to add to your calendars.
Firstly, I would like to wish parents and pupils good luck with their exams & results, and to the Headmaster and College staff for their hard work throughout the year. I personally think it is fantastic that things are now beginning to return to some degree of normality and it was great to be able to attend Speech Day in the Central Hall. Arthur Stewart (7267) was the Chief Guest and did a great job addressing the boys, dispensing some advice and speaking about what Campbell College means to him and his family. And congratulations to all the boys who were awarded prizes and to any OCs graduating this Summer – please let us know what and from where for the News Section of the magazine and if you need a new tie look no further than the OC Shop!
Another indication that things are returning to normal is that the annual Old Campbellian versus the College Cricket match took place on Friday 24th June. Thanks to Andy McCrea and all those who took part and helped to organise the fixture, these things do not happen by themselves. Well done to the OCs team who were victorious on the day and to the College Cricket XI & Club for winning the Cricket Schools' Cup.
Secondly, I wish to thank all those who attended the OCs Annual Dinner 2022 and organised tables and reunions. I hope you enjoyed the evening as much as I did. Thanks again to our guest speaker Ben Lowry (7500) for his entertaining and informative speech. Next year the Annual Dinner will return to its traditional date in early February, so start planning your tables soon.
Throughout the Summer please continue to send in articles and photos for the magazine to the editor Dermot Parker. If you would like to make a donation to the magazine or advertise in it, please contact Walter Murphy at the OC Society office.
I will be hosting The President's Lunch on Friday the 29th July at The Ulster Reform Club. The event is open to OCs, Parents and Guests, meeting at the Club circa 1300 & is sponsored by Stephen Hughes (7838) of we’resure Motor Home & Business Insurance. Due to the success of the event last year it is planned that this event will run annually in the Spring and offer OCs a chance to meet up in a relaxed setting. If you wish to book a place(s) or table please do so via the Events Section or for more information contact waltermurphy@oldcampbellians.co.uk.
Please note that the Annual Business Lunch is planned for Friday the 18th of November and remains an annual mid-November diary fixture, details of which will be published at the end of August.
I look forward to catching up with many of you on the 29th July wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable Summer.
