Trevor Thomas was born in Nairobi on July 3rd 1944.  In 1952 with the Mau Mau rebellion gaining momentum his father took early retirement from his position as Commissioner of Police and returned to Northern Ireland. Trevor attended Cabin Hill as a day boy from1954 to1958 and then boarded at Campbell College until July 1963.

During his time at school he excelled at sports including fencing, athletics and rugby. He held the school long jump record for over twenty years and played centre threeq uarter for the 1st XV 1961/62  and 1962/63. In 1963 he was selected to play for the Ulster Schools XV.

He was in Aldens House and was Head Prefect in 1962/63. On leaving school he attended Queens College Dundee, then part of St Andrews University, to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics. During his time there he enhanced his love of golf, played on the University 1St XV and joined the University Air Squadron where he learned to fly Chipmunks. He also met his future wife Sue Dye while at university.

After leaving University Trevor trained as an accountant with Binder Hamlyn going on to work for Hill Samuel. At this stage in his life he had the options of going to Sydney, Australia with Hill Samuel or Hull, England with Needler Developments Ltd. Happily for all his many friends he chose Yorkshire where, having married in 1969, he and Sue spent all their years together. Trevor's business interests expanded successfully in many directions. Even as far as at one stage being a director of Hull City Football Club: a game in which he had no interest!

His love of golf and especially the camaraderie associated with it remained with him throughout his life. He thrived on friendship and fun He was a member and became captain of both Ganton Golf Club in Yorkshire and The Sandpipers Golf Society based in Northern Ireland as well as being a member of the Royal County Down Golf Club.

Trevor and Sue settled in Bishop Burton near Beverley , East Yorkshire. Their two children Julie and Simon live in England, both married and they had three grandchildren. Trevor and Sue threw themselves into the community of Bishop Burton and became very valuable and active members of the local church.

Sadly from 20 Trevor began to show signs of both motor and cognitive failure which was diagnosed as Vascular Dementia. Decline was gradual but inevitable so he spent the last five or so years of his life in a care home. He is survived by Sue, his two children and his grandchildren along with his older brother Christopher (4113) who lives in Western Australia. He is so sadly missed by Sue, his family and his many, many friends both in Northern Ireland and Yorkshire.
