Remembering The Ultimate Sacrifice At The Somme

Campbell College remembers the 11 OCs who lost their lives 104 years ago at the Battle of the Somme.

Pipe Major Ollie Smyth of the Campbell College Pipes and Drums plays 'The Battle of the Somme' at 0710 this morning in front of the College 1st World War Memorial to remember the 11 OCs who lost their lives 104 years ago today at the Battle of the Somme.

Eight served as part of the 36th Ulster Division, five were officers in the same battalion – the 13th Battalion The Royal Irish Rifles.

Seven of them have no known grave and are commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
