Campbell College 'Virtual' Speech Day 2020

Campbell College 'Virtual' Speech Day 2020: Invitation
24 Jun 2020
College
Dear OC

As we come towards the end of the academic year we are used to preparing the College for one of our key events – Speech Day. The grass is usually being cut, the floors being polished, and the trophies engraved as we prepare to gather our community for an afternoon of celebration. Last year saw one of the College’s most memorable Speech Days as we welcomed Old Campbellians, Gary Lightbody (7848) and Jonny Quinn (7471) from Snow Patrol as our Special Guests.

As we are all too aware, this year will be quite different. We are living through historic times and for the first time since the Second World War we are unable to gather in Central Hall to mark the end of the Summer Term in this traditional manner.

It would be remiss of us not to mark the occasion in some way. Hence, continuing our efforts to create virtual experiences for pupils and parents, we will be presenting a ‘Virtually Live’ Speech Day on Friday 26th June via our Campbell Community Hub on the College Website.

This will entail the traditional speeches from The Chair of the Board of Governors, myself and our Head Prefect, along with a word from the President of the OC Society, as we take you on a visual journey through the year. A year that started with the whole community coming together for the College’s 125th Celebrations and ended with us being kept apart due to Covid 19. Two more extreme bookends to an academic year one could not imagine.

No prizes will be awarded this year, but it will be an important way to end what has been a difficult term and mark the start of summer. Usually we are limited in numbers by the physical capacity of Central Hall, but one advantage of this virtual experience is the ability for everyone to join the celebrations.Hence, we cordially invite you to join us; Campbell College ‘Virtually Live’ Speech Day 2020
on Friday 26th June @2:30pm (via the Campbell Community Hub)

The link to our ‘Virtually Live’ presentation will go live at 2:30pm on Friday 26th June and not before (wifi permitting!) and can be accessed via the Campbell Community Hub .

We thank-you again for all your support this year and look forward to returning to a degree of normality in the new academic year.
Yours faithfully

R M Robinson
Headmaster
