At Campbell College today (Thursday 22nd August) 160 GCSE pupils opened their results to reveal a 10% increase in A*/A grades for the College since 2019. 2024 represents the first year since 2019 where no exam adjustments have been made in Northern Ireland to compensate for Covid.
36% of GCSE grades awarded were A*/A in comparison to 26% in 2019. A*-B figures were also significantly higher with 61% in 2024 compared to 51% in 2019. The overall pass rate at Campbell has also risen to 92.4% in 2024 from 88% in 2019. 12 students achieved a full house of A*/A grades.
Commenting on the strong performance, Headmaster Mr Robert Robinson, M.B.E stated, “We are delighted to have returned to pre covid exam conditions and that the boys responded so well. An increase of 10% across the top grades is fantastic and a testament to a huge amount of hard work not least by the boys themselves but also by the teachers and with the support of parents and guardians. We pride ourselves on working in partnership with parents to support the pupils and especially at GCSE this collaborative support is important. We look forward to welcoming pupils back into 6th Form next week and starting the next chapter in their educational journey.”
