The OC Society President's Letter - October 2021

Read About The Latest OC Events Here

Dear OC

During the last 18 months the Society has been forced to cancel or postpone a number of our popular events. I am delighted to confirm that we are now in a position to take bookings for the OC Business Lunch in November and the Annual Dinner in February 2022. Please record them in your diary or book your place(s) now.

The OC Business Lunch will take place at The Ulster Reform Club (URC) on Friday 19th November please book your ticket / table for this event. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues and is always a great event. Tickets are £36 per head and can be purchased now from the OC website. Michael Eames (7094), Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon President Irish Hand Surgery Society Medical Director Orthoderm, has kindly agreed to be the Guest Speaker. I would also like to thank Myles Nelson (7024) – Nelson Radiology - for sponsoring the Lunch.

In 2022 we will be celebrating our 120th anniversary with a special Centivintennial Old Campbellian Dinner. The Annual Dinner will be held in the College on Friday 11th February 2022. This is a great opportunity to meet up with your year group (a number of Reunions are planned) and meet old friends. Tickets / tables can be booked on the Old Campbellian website, tickets cost £45 per head.

Last week I attended the first OC event since the Annual Dinner in 2020, a President’s Lunch, at the URC and I would like to say what a great afternoon (and evening) was had by all those who attended, it was great to see and hear OCs enjoying themselves again and I very much hope for more of the same in the coming months. I would like to again thank Stephen Hughes (7838) from We'resure Insurance Services for sponsoring the Lunch, much appreciated and please support him as he’s supported the Society.

Can I ask you all to keep an eye on the website for news of upcoming events ie The College Annual Remembrance Service and access to the OC shop. We are heading towards Christmas and there are plenty of gift ideas that can be posted to you or collected from the College, I shall be picking up a Yates’s OC House Tie shortly!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank two individuals. Walter Murphy for his work in keeping the Society moving forward and Dermot Parker for editing the Old Campbellian magazine.  If you have any stories or news articles, that you would like to share, please forward them to oldcampellianeditor@gmail.com as soon as possible please
