First of all may I wish you all a Happy New Year and my best wishes for 2023.
You should now have received your copy of the Old Campbellian Magazine and I hope that you enjoy it. Thank you to everyone who contributed to it, be it through an article, advertisement or a personal donation. Thank you also to those who have passed on their positive thoughts regarding it. The Magazine remains our greatest link with you, as it has been for many years now. If your address has changed or you wish to amend which communications you receive from the Society, please do so via the website by registering online (if you have not done so already) and update your details accordingly (which you can do as and when they change). Please do consider submitting an article or an item for the News Section for inclusion next year (deadline for submissions - 24th October 2023) to oldcampellianeditor@gmail.com.
Hopefully you regularly look at the website for updates on what is going on within the Society and the College. I would encourage any OCs who have not yet registered on the website to do so and become involved. We cannot communicate with you if we do not know where you live or if you haven’t registered. It is primarily through this medium that we can inform you of News & Events.
My thanks must go to those who regularly Advertise, attend Events or make donations to The OC Society, without their generosity we could not function as we do. Do not underestimate the significance or gratitude that even the smallest donation or purchase in the online shop makes.
On Monday 30th January at 7pm, The Annual General Meeting of The Old Campbellian Society will take place in The Sixth Form Centre of the college. All OCs are most welcome to attend.
The Annual Dinner takes place on Friday 10th February and we hope to see as many OCs and their guests as possible. In particular those who are reaching a milestone of since leaving the college, whether that be 5, 10 15 years etc.
In particular, this year marks the 50th anniversary of those who left the College. Give or take a year or two we are encouraging as many leavers of 1972, 1973 and 1974 to attend and reunite at the Dinner. Tables will happily accept singles and groups. We are grateful to those individuals who have ‘rallied the troops’ to attend and are happy to try to help in facilitating spreading the net wider. Confirming your attendance is a sure way of encouraging your peers to do likewise!
Please note that it does not have to be a multiple of 5 in terms of years left and I would particularly encourage those who left 33 years ago to consider attending! (We had a great time at our 25th anniversary!). Please book your ticket on the OC website.
For those in London or nearby we will be hosting an event in London on Friday 10th March 2023 - details for which will appear on the website in due course. Following the successful President’s Lunch in 2022, we will be hosted by The Royal Belfast Golf Club on Friday 28th April.
The OC Golf Day on Friday 20th May at The Royal Belfast Golf Club. Already we have bookings for the day and further details will be published on the website in the coming weeks. If you don’t have a four ball, don’t worry it is not unusual and we are able to accommodate.
With best wishes for 2023
