For the first time in three years, the Campbell Daffodil Tea returned to campus!  Instigated by former Mathematics Teacher Mr Fred Parkes, this annual event is organised by Mrs. McInerney and students of the Charity Club.

Around 40 guests from local nursing homes attended the College for an afternoon of entertainment and hospitality from our student volunteers. On arrival, our guests were greeted on arrival by the Campbell College Pipes and Drums who performed on the College Quadrangle. Inside, student volunteers served tea and coffee to their guests and more entertainment followed, from our Campbell College Choir and the Clarinet Ensemble. As guests chatted with students and their friends over afternoon tea, Fergus, Year 14 (Davis's) played piano providing a relaxing ambience to the room. The day ended with a lively game of Bingo, led by students Asher, Year 14 (Yates's) and Charlie, Year 13 (Alden's). Guests received a hamper of goodies to take back with them. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the hampers.

As Luke, Year 14 (Yates's) mentioned in the video, we were delighted to learn that one of our guests was an Old Campbellian. John Turner (3447), known as Jan to his friends, was a member of the 1st XV who won the Ulster Schools' Cup Final in 1950. A few of the students assisting are also members of the 1st XV and were thrilled to connect with Jan. They discussed Ulster School's Cup Final experiences and were delighted to learn that Jan had been in the winning team of 1950. We were able to track down a photo of the team from a copy of The Campbellian magazine and show this to John and his friends. He recalled how tense the game was and that they won by a tight margin.

The Daffodil Tea is a treasured tradition at Campbell and we were delighted to be able to hosts guests on our campus once again. Photos from the day can be found in the media gallery below.
