The Victorious OC XI 2019
The Victorious OC XI 2019
It was a very wet Friday afternoon last week when the OC XI gathered to take on the CCB 1st XI in an attempt to retain the OC Cricket Cup.

As is tradition, the OC XI batted first and had useful contributions from openers Paddy Beverland (11256) ( 32 ret ) and Sam Ingham (10595) ( 28 ) who put solid foundations in place. Other good contributors were Ali Graham (9626) ( 30 ret ) and Philip Wilson (7384) ( 25 ) in the middle order, while Peter Caruth (9600) scored a quick fire 21 at the end to get the OC total up to 150 for 6 after the 20 overs.

All the CCB pupils bowled 2 overs with Harry Jackson and Ben Jackson both picking up 2 wickets each.

In reply for the school,  Jack Bonner led the way ( 30 ret ) and was followed by skipper Archie Johnston in the middle order ( 31 ret ). Again the OC bowling was shared around with 2 overs each and wicket takers claiming one wicket each were Paddy Telford (11204), Ali Graham, Peter Caruth, Paddy Beverland, Sam Ingham and Matty Hamill (11106).

The CCB 1st XI finished on 118 for 7 after the 20 overs

Congratulations to the OC XI, and Chris Elliott (10463) on his first outing as the Cricket Convener, on retaining the Charlie Beverland Perpetual Cup and well done to both teams and umpires for braving and sticking out the poor conditions.
