After last weekend's weather wiped out virtually all Senior hockey, the 1st X1 got back into action with a good win against visitors Parkview.

The opening minutes however failed to go in the Home side's favour, with Parkview being awarded their first penalty corner of the match. Pete Gray had to make a great left handed save to parry an excellent drag flick attempt from the visitors.

Campbellians began to settle into their stride On 15 minutes Chris Maskery took the opportunity to break from the back with a great run up the middle. His pass to Adam Campbell in the circle, was instantly swept across to Joel Easlea whose blistering reverse shot was well saved by the Parkview 'keeper; but Conor Bannister was on hand to pounce on the rebound for his first of the afternoon.

Almost immediately, another Campbellians attack was rewarded with a penalty corner, which Joel Easlea fired into the top corner of the net with a pin point drag flick.

Just before the break, Chris Maskery saw his shot saved from another penalty corner. By his own admission he should have buried the rebound but the ball hit a defender on the arm, winning a penalty stroke. Adam Campbell stepped up with every intention of adding to the scoreline; but his well taken flick was brilliantly stick saved by the Parkview 'keeper diving to his right.

The second period started with the visitors back in the game after one of the Parkview forwards was allowed to virtually stroll through the Campbellians defence and sweep the ball past Pete Gray. But Campbellians responded immediately with the goal of the match. A total of 7 flowing passes transported the ball from the back, right up to Andy Burnside in the Parkview goalmouth. Needless to say, he accepted his opportunity with aplomb.

Parkview continued to cause the occasional problem in the midfield and up front; however Campbellians were now in the ascendancy. Conor Bannister took his second of the day on 55 minutes; and Chris Ashenhurst made it five, with a glorious poacher's glance from a rocket like cross by Andy Burnside.

Final score Five Nil, and Campbellians stay at the top of Senior 2 with just five matches left.
